More than anything else, what makes Maplewood different is that the company was built from the jersey design perspective outward. Traditionally, jersey design innovation has happened at the top (ie. in hockey, the NHL) and trickled down. For years, the process of outfitting your rec, beerleague, junior, and even minor pro team has consisted of having a logo created, and then applying that logo to a templated pro-centric design. The result is that most teams are only presented a semi-custom experience.
When you pull on a Maplewood jersey, every aspect of your teams visual identity on is 100% custom and unique to your team. Every Maplewood jersey starts with a blank canvas.
Simply put, there is no reason to settle for a sub-par quality sports jersey in 2021. Every Maplewood jersey, whether from the ECO, PRO, or ELITE lineup, is built one at a time out of premium airknit fabric, breathable mesh underarms, and MicroDot shoulder yokes. PRO and ELITE jerseys include professionally applied tackle twill and embroidery.
Maplewood was created in 2020 by Dallas Kirkpatrick. A hockey player since the age of 5, Dallas got involved in hockey jersey design in 2013 through the popular website Icethetics, and eventually launched a personal design brand, Kirkpatrick Designs.
After several hundred (thousand?) concept designs, Dallas was fortunate enough to win a design contest held by the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings in 2018. Since then, Dallas has been involved in the business side of hockey design, and has worked with several professional organizations from leagues including the ECHL, NCAA, EIHL, Czech Extraliga, as well as many others. In early 2020, Dallas designed the new home/away kit for Rytiri Kladno, the team owned by NHL legend, Jaromir Jagr.
